With the impacts of Tropical Storm Francine expected to reach our area as early as Wednesday morning, Lafourche Parish public schools and facilities as well as Nicholls State University and Fletcher Technical Community College will be closed Wednesday, September 11, 2024, and Thursday, September 12, 2024. Please continue to check school websites and social media for updates. Pelican Waste and Debris has canceled their collection routes for Wednesday, September 11, 2024, and will assess Thursday morning if collections can be resumed.

On Monday, September 9, 2024, at 1:43 PM, Mayor Clement signed an Emergency Declaration in anticipation of Tropical Storm Francine. This declaration will ensure that the City will have proper access to many resources that may be needed to respond to this event.

The City of Thibodaux is working hard to prepare all parts of the City for the upcoming tropical weather event. Trash and debris can cause damage with high winds with the incoming weather, so please help limit the amount of trash left by the road. We appreciate everyone’s help in this matter.
