The City of Thibodaux experienced a rapid loss of water pressure early this morning. Because of this, as a precaution, everyone receiving City water is now under a BOIL ADVISORY, effective immediately. This BOIL ADVISORY is to remain in effect for at least 48 hours, as water samples are being collected to be sent to the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals for further testing. City officials said additional updates will be posted as they become available.

It is recommended that all City water customers disinfect their water before consuming it, making ice, brushing teeth, using it for food preparation (including fountain drinks), and for rinsing food by the following means:
Boil water for one (1) full minute in a clean container. The one minute starts after the water has been brought to a rolling boil. (The flat taste can be eliminated by shaking the water in a clean bottle, pouring it from one clean container to another, or by adding a small pinch of salt to each quart of water that boiled.)
Again, please be sure to disinfect your own water prior to consumption until you have been advised otherwise.
The City of Thibodaux will rescind this BOIL ADVISORY upon notification from the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals - Office of Public Health after additional samples collected from our water supply have shown our water to be safe.

Currently, the City of Thibodaux is responding to a water line leak at the intersection of South Acadia Rd. and Martin Luther King Dr. Residents will experience low water pressure during this time while repairs are being made. Residents are advised to conserve water until water pressure is back to normal.
The City of Thibodaux wishes to advise motorists that
due to critical drainage repairs being performed, LA Highway 1 (East First
Street) will be closed to vehicular traffic between St. Joseph Street and Elder
Street beginning Saturday morning August 14th and continuing through Sunday
evening August 15th. All commercial traffic will be detoured to LA
308 at LA 648 (Percy Brown Bridge) and LA 20 (Jackson Street). Local traffic
will be routed to Elder and St. Joseph Streets to bypass the construction
site. Residences and businesses located near the construction site will
be allowed access to their properties for the duration of the repairs.
