Police: Teamwork nabbed attacker

The man accused in a string of cemetery assaults had served time in a Mississippi prison for a rape conviction and recently served six years in jail in Terrebonne Parish on assault charges, police officials said at a Wednesday press conference. Click here for the full article (Daily Comet).

On Monday, July 12, the Thibodaux City Council ratified Craig Melancon as Chief of the Thibodaux Police Department.  After a 4-0 vote (with Mr. Gene Richard being absent), Mayor Charles Caillouet swore in Chief Melancon on the spot.  Chief Melancon then briefed the Mayor, Council and audience on how excited he is to be back with the City of Thibodaux.

Due to a surplus in Christmas merchandise, the Habitat Home Store is having a Christmas in July sale.  The organization has decorations, wreaths, candles, lights and lots of other Christmas items available for purchase.  The Home Store is located at 800 Jackson Street and is open Tuesdays and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Thursdays from 9 am to noon.  Proceeds from the HomeStore are used to finance the program that helps provide low-income families with affordable homes.

The night was a huge success!  The event pulled in approximately $15,000 (at time newsletter was sent)!  Everyone is already looking forward to the 2005 Mr. Habitat Contest!

2004 Adult Basketball League
The season will consist of 5 weeks and ending with a tournament on the 6th week.  All games will be played at the Civic Center two nights a week. 
T.R.D. is looking for a League Director
The League Director will be responsible for scheduling all games and the tournament. League Director would be expected to be present at these games. Please call 985-446-7235 for more info.

With only four weeks remaining in the swim season, membership fees will decrease each week.  
On July 29, the rate will be $39
on July 26 it drops to $25
and on August 2 it is $10 (the last week)  

Thibodaux Main Street Farmer's Market


Due to the excessive amount of rain that the farmer's have been experiencing, the market will close at the end of July.
The Farmer's Market is every Saturday from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. -- Located on LA 1 and Maronge Street.
