Home Trends, an annual one-day mini college will be held at NSU (Gouaux Hall) on Thursday, August 7th from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  Registration is $10.00 per person and includes a light lunch.  This years topics include Creative Window Toppers, Seasonal Transitions, Basket Creations, Porch Pleasures, Cottage Chic from Castaways and Ways to Attract Butterflies to your Garden.  To register, mail a check or money order to Sandra Chiasson – 146 Darden Ct. Sports Court Flooring…The Thibodaux Civic Center has a new addition to its arena.  The installation of the new Sports Court flooring in now complete.  The flooring consists of 10” x 10” tiles covering the whole arena floor.  The sports court flooring was purchased in an effort to begin a children’s and adult’s volleyball and basketball leagues.  The flooring will be used for all functions, banquets and dances, with the exception of the Circus, Rodeo and Biddy Basketball.  An advantage of the Sports Court floor is if one tile is damaged, broken or dirty, that tile can be lifted and cleaned or replaced.  Civic Center Director Mr. Curtis Hue stated, “The flooring is very attractive to the Civic Center.  Everyone is invited and welcomed to stop by and see our latest improvement.”
  THANKS GOES OUT TO THE LIONS CLUB:
Thanks to the Lions Club ten picnic tables are being constructed by the Vo-tech school and will be donated to the City of Thibodaux by the end of summer.  Two of the tables will be handicap assessable and placed near the handicap play equipment in Peltier Park. Six tables will be placed in Peltier Park and four will be placed in MLK Park.  Thanks also go out to Thibodaux Lumber who donated the concrete to build the slabs that go under the tables. The Parks Department will pick up the tables from the Vo-Tech school, dig the holes, form up the slabs, set the tables into the ground, finish the concrete and install the tables into the parks.
THIBODAUX AREA HABITAT FOR HUMANITY:
Thibodaux Area Habitat for Humanity will be having an Application Meeting on Tuesday, August 12 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at St. Genevieve Family Center located at 807 Barbier Street in Thibodaux.  An application packet can be picked up at the Habitat Home Store located at 800 Jackson Street on Tuesdays and Saturdays from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.  Only completed applications will be accepted at the meeting.
ANNUAL MARSHAL'S BANQUET:
The South Thibodaux Fire Co.'s annual Marshal’s Banquet will be held on Saturday, August 16 at 7:00 p.m. at the Thibodaux Civic Center.  Delta Road will provide the music entertainment.  Tickets are $25.00 per couple.  For more info or tickets, please call 985-447-1499.
SECTION 8 HOUSING CHOICE VOUCHER PROGRAM:
The City of Thibodaux is accepting applications for Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program on
Wednesday, August 6 at the Thibodaux Civic Center (Plantation Room) from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
