On the third Tuesday of every month, one senior resident of Thibodaux will be invited to sit in as Mayor of the City of Thibodaux.  The program helps encourage positive communication between our city’s senior residents and the City of Thibodaux’s leadership team.

The City of Thibodaux would like to introduce our "Senior Mayor for a Day" for July 15, 2003 -
. Leonard "Bee" Zachary Boudreaux

Ted Madere  Mr. Boudreaux, a 90-year-old resident of Thibodaux, was born February 1, 1913.  He has been a resident of St. Joseph Manor since January 2002.  Leonard Zachary Boudreaux, better known to the community as “Bee,” attended Mount Carmel and Thibodaux College and graduated in 1931.  He was married to Marguerite Blanchard in June 1938.  He is the father of 3 children and has 5 grandchildren.  His first wife passed away in January 1996.  Mr. Bee is currently married to Gertrude “Trudy” Ganel Boudreaux.

Mr. Bee owned Boudreaux’s Grocery at the corner of Narrow and East 7th St., which was a family business.  He closed the business in 1974 to retire, although Mr. Bee never did retire.  He is still active in the community to this day.  He is a member of  the Woodmen of the World, the Knights of Columbus, and the Lafourche Parish S.A.L.T. Council. Before moving into the Manor, Mr. Bee was also very active with the Thibodaux Senior Citizen’s Center. Genealogy is one of Mr. Bee’s hobbies.

As a resident of St. Joseph Manor, he remains involved with the S.A.L.T. Council and is now participating in the NSU Intergenerational Program.  He enjoys spending time with his wife and reminiscing with his friends. He would like to live to be 113 like his great-great-grandmother, Clementine Robichaux Breaux. He stated that he is honored to be “Senior Mayor for a Day”
