Find out what's going on in your City!

As Mr. Ted Madere entered City Hall on Tuesday, June 17, fellow employees greeted him as “Mayor.”  Mr. Madere was selected by the Thibodaux Senior Citizen’s Center to be the first senior resident to participate in the City of Thibodaux’s “Senior Mayor for a Day” program.  The day was filled with reviewing reports, a departmental staff meeting, tour of city buildings and projects, a certificate/plaque presentation and lunch courtesy of Fremin’s Restaurant.  Mr. Gibbens Robichaux, a fellow friend and member of the “Ancient Ruins”, stopped in to take pictures of the presentation to be published in the Chamber’s Tid Bits.  “The staff meeting was very interesting.  There is a lot more going on in the City than I ever imagined,” “Mayor” Madere stated as he left City Hall.  Mayor Caillouet stated “It was a pleasure having ‘Mayor’ Madere join us today.  We learned a lot from him and we welcome him back anytime.”  Click here for the previous article.

If you would like to nominate a Thibodaux Senior resident for our “Senior Mayor for a Day” program, please contact Kristin Batulis at 448-5841.

Chef Casey Cheramie of the Culinary Institute at Nicholls State University will be the guest chef again this week.  Casey cooked up a delicious dish of ratatouille last Saturday demonstrating the use of vegetables from the market.  Casey is in his third year in the culinary school and will be studying in Italy this summer.

On June 20th to July 13th, Thibodaux Police Department joins law enforcement agencies throughout Assumption, Lafourche, St. Charles, St. James, St. John and Terrebonne Parishes in conducting enforcement patrols to get impaired drivers off our roads and make this Holiday Season safer for the rest of us.  Play it safe this summer – make a designated driver part of your celebration and vacation plans, call for a ride, take a taxi or plan to spend the night where you celebrate.  Don’t Give Up Your Independence or Your Life – Don’t Drink and Drive.
