As Mr. Ted Madere entered City Hall on Tuesday, June 17, fellow employees greeted him as “Mayor.”Mr. Madere was selected by the Thibodaux Senior Citizen’s Center to be the first senior resident to participate in the City of Thibodaux’s “Senior Mayor for a Day” program.The day was filled with reviewing reports, a departmental staff meeting, tour of city buildings and projects, a certificate/plaque presentation and lunch courtesy of Fremin’s Restaurant.Mr. Gibbens Robichaux, a fellow friend and member of the “Ancient Ruins”, stopped in to take pictures of the presentation to be published in the Chamber’s Tid Bits.“The staff meeting was very interesting.There is a lot more going on in the City than I ever imagined,” “Mayor” Madere stated as he left City Hall.Mayor Caillouet stated “It was a pleasure having ‘Mayor’ Madere join us today.We learned a lot from him and we welcome him back anytime.”Click here for the previous article.

FARMER'S MARKET:Favorite seasonal vegetables like eggplant, okra, field peas, corn, tomatoes, onions, cucumbers, potatoes, and squash are being harvested for the market. Jeannie Fonseca is back with fresh Des Allemands catfish, soft and hard-shelled crabs, crabmeat and delicious stuffed crabs. Baked goods, jams and jellies, homemade breads, goat cheese, salad dressings, soups, homemade pies, plants, herbs, and fresh flowers are also available for purchase at the market.
Chef Casey Cheramie of the Culinary Institute at Nicholls State University will be the guest chef again this week. Casey cooked up a delicious dish of ratatouille last Saturday demonstrating the use of vegetables from the market. Casey is in his third year in the culinary school and will be studying in Italy this summer.
Bring the children back to the market on June 28th to play with the animals in the petting zoo.
