Dr. Steele and the LSU Interior Design class presented Interior and Façade Designs of Main Street at City Hall on Tuesday, May 20.Grants and Economic Development Director, Bonnie Lafont said, “The students did an excellent job and put in thousands of hours of work on this project.We hope the downtown merchants and property owners will use some of these ideas to help revitalize the downtown area.”
Chief Howard Robertson, the Thibodaux Police Department and the City of Thibodaux would like to congratulate Officer Patrick Oliver on his graduation from Nicholls State University – May 17, 2003.Officer Oliver received an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice and a Bachelor Degree in Government.Chief Robertson stated, “The whole department is extremely proud of Officer Oliver.He is a great role model for police officers who want to attend school and work full-time.I hope other officers follow in his example.”

The Thibodaux Police Department is actively involved and is taking a Zero-Tolerance stance in the “Buckle Up Seatbelt” campaign.The department recently received a grant of 100 hours of overtime pay to step up enforcement on seatbelt safety through the month of May – paying special attention on Memorial Day weekend.
Arts & Crafts…The Parks & Recreation Department is accepting registration for the Summer Arts & Crafts Class until the end of May 2003.Classes are for boys and girls ages 5-12.Registration for both sessions of the 2003-year will be at the Peltier Recreation office May 5 – 30, Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to Noon & 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.Please contact Ralph Landry at 446-7235 for more information.

The Farmer’s Market reopens Saturday, May 24th.The market will open every Saturday from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. downtown Thibodaux on LA 1 and Maronge Street.Locally grown produce, fruits, vegetables, fresh flowers, plants, herbs, Des Allemands seafood, baked goods, soaps, jams, jellies, honey, goat cheese, homemade breads will be available for purchase.Local chefs will be conducting cooking demonstrations.The Extension Service and Master Gardeners will be available to answer questions and share gardening hints.Bring the children to the market to see and play with the baby animals in the petting zoo.There is still space at our market for new and innovative farmers and vendors.If you are interested in a booth at the market, please call Joyce Benoit at 448-1474.
