2001 Road Improvement Project – Complete
2002 Road Improvement Project – Bid received on April 10, 2002. Contract approved. Huey Stockstill of Houma and Byron Talbot subcontractor is laying asphalt in all areas of the city at the present time.
East Corridor/CDBG Back St. Project – construction is substantially complete and waiting on final inspection. The opening of the new section of the roadway linking Canal Boulevard with Back St. will be opening shortly.
Bayou Lane Drainage Extension – Complete
Sewer Plant Floodwalls – Engineering Contract authorized. Preliminary plans and specifications being upgraded for bidding process.
On Monday, July 29, 2002, Parks and Recreation started the first Soccer Camp. Coach Ed Bice, Instructor, registered 20 campers. Coach Bice stated this was a very successful camp and plans to continue the soccer camp next year.
Handicap companion seats were installed in the arena at the Civic Center. This is the only item recommended by the Advocacy Center. A water fountain for wheel chair will be installed in the near future.

An attractive vinyl fence was installed at Midland Park on Friday, August 2, 2002. The fence, along with a 1/10-mile exercise path, and the renovation of the basketball court were part of a project to make Midland Park user-friendlier.
Plans are in process to landscape Peltier Park’s newly completed ˝ mile exercise path.
