The Thibodaux Farmers Market will close its "spring" season on Saturday July 29.  "The market has been a successful endeavor with some 19 vendors participating and has become a community event for Thibodaux," says Joyce Benoit, Market Coordinator.  A weekly drawing for a gift basket and a petting zoo were some of the highlights added to this year's market.  Plans for the "fall" Market are underway.  The market is anticipated to reopen by mid to late September.  The market is open on Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. on LA 1 and Maronge St. in Thibodaux.  Persons interested in joining the market are encouraged to contact Joyce Benoit at 448-1474.

The Civic Center is accessible to walkers from 6:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday.  The facility is available to everyone during these hours except when the entire building has been rented for a private function or during rehearsal and set-up for a major public event, in which notices are always posted on the main entrances at least three days in advance.

Don’t forget, the New Orleans Saints will be arriving in Thibodaux on Friday, July 26 for the summer training camp held at NSU stadium.  Practices are open to the public.  For a list of the Saint’s schedule, visit our website: ci.thibodaux.la.us.

The 2002 PARD summer baseball programs ended its season with closing tournaments from July 16 - 18.  Parks & Recreation director Ralph Landry stated, “The summer program was very successful and everything ran very smoothly.  All 96 teams had a wonderful time playing.”

This week, the market will have fresh tomatoes and many other vegetables along with Des Allemands seafood, fresh flowers and plants, baked goods, handmade soaps, cracklins, jams and jellies.
