As the years past technology is constantlyimproving, which means that new items become available daily. Whenthese items become available to the public’s use, they are sometimes used orinstalled in an inappropriate manner. With that said, the ThibodauxPolice Department would like to inform motorists about the law regardingtelevisions inside a vehicle.
The Louisiana law states, that noperson shall drive a motor vehicle which is equipped with a televisionreceiver, screen, or other means of visually receiving a television broadcastor a radio signal that produces entertainment or business applications, whichis located in the motor vehicle at any point forward of the back of thedriver’s seat, or which is visible to the driver while operating the motorvehicle. Additionally, no retailer shall install a television receiver, screen or any imaging which is located in a motor vehicle at any point forwardthe back of the driver’s seat, as mention above.
Not only is it a violation of the law whena television screen or receiver is installed incorrectly, but it is also verydangerous when a driver becomes distracted. Any person who violates thelaw is subject to receiving a citation.
