Aggravated Battery by Cuttings

The Thibodaux Police Department conducted two separate Aggravated Battery by Cutting arrests on Wednesday, November 9, 2005. In both complaints, it was the victimís girlfriends who were the aggressors.

Early Wednesday morning around 3:00AM, the Thibodaux Police received an anonymous call advising there was a man lying on the ground bleeding from his legs in the area of the Family Dollar located on St. Mary Street in Thibodaux. When police made contact with the male, he told them that he had been stabbed by his live-in girlfriend, Melanie Duvall (43 y/o, W/F of 408-A Arms Street, Thibodaux). The victim also told police that earlier he and Duvall had an argument followed by Duvall physically attacking him. The victim then said he ran into the kitchen in an effort to get away from Duvall, who was giving pursuit. While in the kitchen, the victim told police that Duvall armed herself with a knife and stabbed him repeatedly in the legs. The victim was transported to a local hospital were he was treated and later released. Duvall was placed under arrest and charged with (1ct) Aggravated Battery {by Domestic Violence} and later transported to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center to await bond.

As the day went on, the Thibodaux Police received the second Aggravated Battery call at approximately 6:00PM. When police arrived at 1219 General Nicholls Street the victim told the police that his girlfriend, MaryAnn Johnson (46Y/O, B/F of 1219 General Nicholls Street in Thibodaux) had just stabbed him in the arm with a knife. The victim told police that as he began leaving the residence Johnson followed him outside holding two knives and yelling at him. While outside, the victim said Johnson struck at him with the knives stabbing him in the arm. Police then located Johnson inside the residence where she was placed her under arrest for (1ct) Aggravated Battery {by Domestic Violence} and later transported to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center to await bond.
