Cruelty to Animals

On Wednesday, October 26, at approximately 9AM, the Thibodaux Police Department responded to a complaint of possible animal cruelty at 305 North 13th Street in Thibodaux. The complaint was reported by a concerned citizen.

When Thibodaux Police arrived, they located a small, female dog that was chained to a near-by fence. With no food or water available along with visible signs of her ribcage and back bone showing through her coat indicated neglect that was indeed apparent. The dog was immediately seized and transported to the city’s animal shelter where she received necessary treatment.

The owner, Ronnie Lee Berry (29 y/o B/M of 305 North 13th Street, Thibodaux) was later located an issued a Misdemeanor Summons for (1ct) “Cruelty To Animals”.

To the concerned citizen, “Thank You!!!” Your concern regarding a helpless animal in need was truly a step toward hopefully one day ending animal cruelty.

Chief Craig A. Melancon commented, "Anyone who knows of any animal being abused or neglected is asked to contact the Thibodaux Police Department at (985)446-5021, so that we can investigate the complaint."
