Search Warrant on Sanders Street

 

On the night of August 24 at approximately 8:13 P.M.,officers of the Thibodaux Police Department’s Bureau of Narcotics served asearch warrant at 210 and 212 Sanders Street. This was a direct result of an ongoing investigation of illegal narcoticsactivity in the area. 

Narcotics detectives were assisted in this operation by theThibodaux Police Department’s patrol division and it’s Special EnforcementResponse Team.  Other agencies alsooffered assistance; these are the Lafourche Parish Sheriffs Office CrisisManagement Unit, Narcotics Detectives, and Problem Oriented Policing Squad. Other agencies involved in this operation were the Houma PoliceDepartment, Assumption Parish Narcotics, Louisiana State police, DEA, andLouisiana Air National Guard. 

Several subjects were located on the property including thehomeowners of each residence. 

Thibodaux Police Chief Craig Melancon stated, “Theoperation last night is the culmination of information received from citizenscomplaining about narcotics in this area.” 

“Efforts by the Thibodaux Police Department’s Bureau ofNarcotics and their investigations into the activities at these locations, aswell as the coming together of the multiple law enforcement agencies to addressthe distribution of illegal narcotics in the City of Thibodaux resulted in thefollowing seizures at these locations:” 

1 – Glock .45 Cal. semi-automatic handgun (stolen)
1 – Sig Sauer P229 9mm semi-auto handgun
1 – SKS 7.62mm Assault rifle
8.8 grams of suspected crack cocaine; street value estimated at $1,760.00
4 tablets of ecstasy                                                                         $   80.00
2 grams CON BUD marijuana                                                       $   400.00
6.5 grams marijuana                                                                      $     65.00 

One arrest was made on Scuddy Brown, black male DOB09/08/42 of 212 Sanders Street. He was charged with Simple Possession ofmarijuana. 

Chief Melancon also stated, “that this is an ongoingoperation where more arrests will be forthcoming.”
