On the afternoon of February 20, 2003 Thibodaux Police Department responded to the intersection of Talbot Ave. and Oakley St. in reference to an auto accident.
Thibodaux Police Department Commander, Todd Gagnard, stated that a beige 2001 Pontiac Grand Am, driven by Audrine Harris Age 60 of Chauvin, LA, was traveling North on Oakley St. Upon reaching the intersection of Oakley St. and Talbot Ave., where there is a two way stop present. Ms. Harris slowed down only, then proceeded forward across Talbot Ave.
At this time, a white 1998 Chevrolet truck, driven by Jamey Fontenot Age 28 of Thibodaux, was headed West on Talbot Ave when Ms. Harris’ vehicle entered the roadway directly in front of Mr. Fontenot’s vehicle causing the crash.
Ms. Harris’ vehicle was then pushed slightly off the roadway and pinning it against a utility pole located on the Northwest corner of the intersection. Officers then determined that Ms. Harris’ doors could not be opened.
The Thibodaux Volunteer Fire Department Rescue Squad then arrived for extrication purposes along with Acadian Ambulance Services to give medical aid.
Both drivers were treated at the scene and transported to Thibodaux Regional Hospital. Mr. Fontenot was later released with minor injuries. Ms. Harris was admitted to Thibodaux Regional after initial treatment in the Emergency Room.
