In the evening hours of January 11, 2003 Officers of the Thibodaux Police Department responded to a local grocery store for the report of a shoplifter, but before officer’s arrival the suspect had left the store with approximately three packs of meat valued at $30.25.
From the clothing description given by store employees, responding officers quickly found the suspect.
The suspect, known to officers as Louis Woods Jr. of 408 Back St. Thibodaux, LA and age 41, then decided to flee from police officers on his bicycle. Mr. Woods then ditched his bicycle and proceeded to run on foot through several yards before ultimately running into a building where a wedding reception was being held.
Officers then entered the building where numerous people pointed to the restroom. Officers then retrieved Mr. Woods from the restroom stall where he was reluctant to out. The three packs of meat were also recovered with Mr. Woods.
Mr. Woods was then brought to Thibodaux Police Department where he was booked with Theft of Goods and given a $100.00 bond. Not being able to furnish bond, Mr. Woods was transported to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center. It should be noted that Mr. Woods does have a rather long record for such crimes.
