THIBODAUX MANCAUGHT WITH DRUGS IN STOLEN VEHICLE
OnWednesday, May 1, 2002 at approximately 8:30 p.m., Thibodaux Police Officers received a report advising to be on the lookout for a stolen vehicle thatwas taken from Baton Rouge, LA. earlier that day. The vehicle, which was described as a burgundy 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe, wasreportedly seen in the Thibodaux area.
Soon after receiving that information, ThibodauxNarcotic Officers who were driving in an unmarked police car, observed thestolen vehicle as it turned into the parking lot of a Food Mart on CanalBoulevard. The Officer observed that the driver, Allen Wilson, 26, of 817 North8th Street, and his passenger Vernon Carcisse, 29, of 1504 EagleDrive, stepped out of the vehicle and entered the store. As Wilson and Carcissewalked away from the vehicle, the officers observed that the doors to the Tahoewere left open and that excessively loud music was coming from the vehicle.
As Wilson exited the store and attempted to get backinto the drivers seat of the Tahoe, the Officers, who verified that the vehiclewas stolen, made contact with Wilson and advised him that he was being placedunder arrest for Illegal possession of Stolen Things. As the Officers attempted to secure Wilson, Carcisse grabbedthe arm of one of the officers in an attempt to stop him from cuffing Wilson. At that time, Carcisse was arrested for interfering with the duties of apolice officer.
The Narcotic officers, along with Police K-9 dog Cee,then conducted a search of the vehicle which turned up a crumpled dollar billfrom the drivers side floor board which contained two pieces of suspected crackcocaine. The suspected crack cocaine that was found inside the crumpled dollarbill weighed approximately .4 grams, with a street value of approximately$80.00.
Wilson was arrested by the Thibodaux Police Department forone count each of
Possession of Stolen things and Possession with the intentto distribute Cocaine. Wilson was later transported to the Lafourche ParishDetention Center. No bond set at Press time.
Carcisse was issued a summons for interfering with theduties of a police officer and release.
