 A LARGEDISTURBANCE ENDED WITH THE ARREST OF SIX PEOPLE

      On Sunday (March 24, 2002) at approximately 8:38 p.m., Thibodaux PoliceOfficers responded to a 911 call regarding a large disturbance in the 1500 blockof Eagle Drive.

When Officers arrived, they observeda large disturbance involving nearly 200 people.  It was reported that most of the people in that area wereparty goers who had attended a party which started earlier that day at a home inthe 1500 block of Eagle Drive.

      

    As the Officers attempted to disperse the large crowd, they noticed thata fight had broken out at that location.  Asofficers attempted to break up the fight, an irate group of people from thecrowd started throwing bottles, sticks and stones, striking several officers. 

 

    The Thibodaux Police Department’s K-9 Officer and his K-9 dog “Cee”,along with several Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Deputies were also called to thescene to assist with dispersing the large combative crowd. It was reported thatthere was an extreme amount of pushing and shoving from the rebellious crowdwhich resulted in a 33 year old woman being pushed onto the K-9 Officer and hisdog, making it appeared as though she was attacking the them. The K-9defensively grabbed the woman, but immediately let her go at the officer’scommand. The woman was identified as Demetra Arcement, 33, of 309 Bobby St.Arcement received two minor pricks to her forehead and was taken to theThibodaux Regional Medical Center where she was treated and immediatelyreleased.

By the time officers managed to getthe crowd under control, at least six had been arrested.

 A list of those arrested andtheir charges are as follows:

 

1.  Shawn Poindexter, 25, of 1202 Plantation Rd.  Thibodaux

2.  Ryan Walker, 34, of 1131 Louisa St. Thibodaux

One countDisturbing the peace by fighting

     One count Command to Disperse

 

3.  Lisa Dumas, 31, 309 Bobby St. Thibodaux

One countDisturbing the peace

4.  Michael Robinson, 28, of 145 Notre Dame St. Thibodaux

5.  Demetra Arcement, 33, of 323 Bobby St. Thibodaux

Onecount Remaining after being Forbidden

 

A 16 year oldjuvenile was also arrested as a result of the disturbance and released to aguardian. All other subjects were booked and transported to the Lafourche ParishDetention Center. Several Officers were hit by the objects thrown from thecrowd, but received only minor injuries. The cause of disturbance and fight isunknown. There were no other injuries reported as a result of this disturbance.

 SUPPLEMENTTO RELEASE

 A LARGEDISTURBANCE ENDED WITH THE ARREST OF SIX PEPOLE

     A seventh person was arrested in connection with the disturbance in the1500 block of Eagle Dr. On Monday, March 25, 2002, through further investigationinto the disturbance, a Thibodaux Police Housing Officer learned that BrandyWilliams, 18, of 1308 Eagle Dr.  wasalso involved in the disturbance that took place on Eagle Dr.

     Investigators obtained an arrest warrant for Williams and placed herunder arrest later that day. Williams was charged with one count of Disturbingthe Peace. William was released on a $250.00 bond.

 The incidentis still under investigation and more arrest are planned.
