THIBODAUX POLICE OFFICERS ARREST FOUR MEN ON SEPARATEDRUG CHARGES
On Thursday (February 21, 2002) at approximately 8:24 p.m., ThibodauxPolice Departmentís Narcotics Officers arrested Ephon Anderson, Sr., 43, of446 Paula Drive, after they reportedly witnesses what appeared to be an illegaldrug transaction taking place in the 200 block of Sanders Street. During a patdown of Anderson, Officers recovered one piece of suspected crack cocaine.Anderson was arrested and booked on one count of possession of crack cocaine. Asecond suspect fled the area.
At approximately 10:47 p.m., Narcotic Officers observed the driver of a1996 Ford Thunderbird speeding in the area of Canal Blvd. and East 12thSt. Officers conducted a traffic stop with the vehicle and made contact with thedriver, Robert Naquin, 24, of 767 Deadwood Rd., Gibson, and his occupant, JoshuaField, 26, of 148 Blosson Court, Thibodaux. While approaching the vehicle, an officer reportedly observed whatappeared to be a small bag of suspected powdered cocaine on the passenger sidefloorboard.
After conducting a further search of the interior of the vehicle, Officerreportedly found two additional bags of suspected cocaine and one bag ofsuspected marijuana. The total weight of suspected cocaine found wasapproximately 2.9 grams (with street value of $460.00). The total weight of the suspected marijuana found was approximately 5.1grams (street value of $29.00)
Anderson, Naquin and Field were transported to the Lafourche ParishDetention Center with no bond set at news release time.
A forth man was arrested this morning (shortly after midnight 02-22-02)after a Thibodaux Police Officer patrolling in the 400 block of St. Mary Hwy.,heard loud music coming from a white Toyota 4 Runner that was parked at nearbycar wash. As the Officer reportedly approached a man who vacuuming his floormat, he observed what appeared to be a strong odor of marijuana coming frominside the vehicle. The man was identified as Joshua Lagarde, 19, of 815Jefferson St.,Thibodaux.
During a search of the vehicle, the Officer reportedly located a smallamount of marijuana and items considered as drug paraphernalia. Lagarde wasarrested and charged with one count Nuisance, one count of Possession ofMarijuana and one count of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Lagarde was issueda summons for all three counts and released.
