InDecember 2001, the Thibodaux Police Department responded to a residence burglaryin the 300 block of Belmont Dr., Thibodaux. During the burglary, several autographed baseballs, trading cards and aSan Diego Padres and Seattle Mariners jersey were taken. Shortly after the burglary occurred, the Thibodaux Police Departmentissued a release requesting anyone with information to contact the ThibodauxPolice Department.
OnFebruary 2, 2002, the Thibodaux Police Department received information that aman, who was later identified as Elwood Billiot II, 18, of 200 Santa Monica Dr.Houma, was seen at a Houma parade wearing one of the stolen jerseys.
Throughfurther investigation, Thibodaux Detectives learned that Billiot accompanied 21year old Shaun Solet of 241 Peter St., Houma, in burglarizing the residence.Arrest warrants were issued for both Billiot and Solet for their involvement inthe burglary. Solet and Billiot were both arrested by the Thibodaux PoliceDepartment on a warrant for one count of Simple Burglary with a bond amount setat $25,000.00 each. Solet was transported to the Lafourche Parish DetentionCenter. Billiotwas transported to the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex where he wasarrested for Possession of Stolen Things.
