OnTuesday, December 25, 2001 (Christmas Day) at approximately 2:10 p.m., theThibodaux Police Department received a call from the Thibodaux Regional MedicalCenter’s Emergency Room advising of a stabbing and that the victim was therein for treatment.
Through further investigation into the complaint,Officers learned that the victim, who was identified as Patrick Jones, 40, of941 St. Charles St., was allegedly cut once on his left wrist the by hisgirlfriend, Lisa Baker, 31, of 1124 Narrow St., Thibodaux.
According to witness statements, the couple was heardarguing from the bedroom of Baker’s home. During the argument Jones allegedlyslapped Baker, and then Baker allegedly left the room, but returned to thebedroom armed with a kitchen knife and then cut Jones on the wrist. The stabbingreportedly stemmed from an argument between Jones and Baker because Jones didnot want her holding her relative’s child.
Aftergathering evidence from the scene, Jones was arrested and released after beingissued a summons for one count of Simple Battery. Baker was arrested and charged with one count of Aggravated Battery. Baker was transported to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center andreleased on December 26, 2001 on a $5,000 bond.
Jonesreceived treatment for the laceration to his left wrist and then released.
